Each of them is one of the largest employers in the Pittsburgh Region today, employing over 1,000 workers in southwestern Pennsylvania.
And each of them was started by entrepreneurs using technologies invented here in the Pittsburgh Region!
In fact, most of the big companies in southwestern Pennsylvania didn’t move here – they were started here by entrepreneurs.
Because they’re big, these companies have familiar names. But what about lesser known companies like Industrial Scientific, McKesson Automation, Nomos, ServiceLink, and VoCollect? What do they have in common?
Each of them employs over 100 workers in southwestern Pennsylvania, and each of them was started by entrepreneurs using technologies invented here in the Pittsburgh Region during the last 20 years.
In fact, most of the new jobs created in southwestern Pennsylvania are created by startups and small firms.
Innovation and entrepreneurship created the engine that drove the economy of the Pittsburgh Region throughout the last century. That same engine can drive the regional economy through this new century.
The formula is simple:
Create new ideas.
