What is Pittsburgh's Future?
Pittsburgh's Future is intended to provide a convenient mechanism for people in southwestern Pennsylvania to learn about the major strategies and initiatives that the 10-county Southwestern Pennsylvania region can pursue in areas such as:
- economic development
- technology development
- education and workforce development
- tourist promotion
and to explain how these various strategies and initiatives interrelate.
The goal of Pittsburgh's Future is to help focus attention and action on the priorities that will have maximum impact on the region's future economy and quality of life.
PittsburghFuture.com is a community service initiative of Pittsburgh's Future, LLC, which is managed by Harold D. Miller. Miller is also President of Future Strategies, LLC, a consulting firm specializing in analysis, strategy, and communications, and Adjunct Professor of Public Policy and Management at Carnegie Mellon University's Heinz School of Public Policy and Management. In addition, he serves as President and CEO of the Network for Regional Healthcare Improvement and the Executive Director of the national Center for Healthcare Quality and Payment Reform. Until November, 2005, he served as President of the Allegheny Conference on Community Development, Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Economy League of Southwestern Pennsylvania, and Director of the Southwestern Pennsylvania Growth Alliance. Prior to joining the Allegheny Conference in 1992, he served as Associate Dean of the Heinz School at Carnegie Mellon, and as Director of the Pennsylvania Governor's Office of Policy Development.
